Time Capsule
As part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations Mrs Austin and Mr Trainor arranged a whole-school activity linked with 'The World Around Us'. A TIME CAPSULE was prepared and buried and will be excavated in 25 years time, when the school celebrates its 75th Anniversary. At a special Assembly on 7th October pupils explained their choice of items for the capsule, for example, a bag of coins. Will the coins be the same in 25 years time or will they have changed significantly? What will their relative value be in 25 years time?
Every pupil contributed to the activity 'When I grow up I would like to be....' and by the responses it seems that we will not be short of nurses, teachers, doctors, vets and hairdressers in Hilltown in the generations ahead.
Class photos of each year group were included, along with samples of pupil work, letters from various members of staff, a copy of dinner menus and school newsletter.
Pictured below is the very deep hole in which the Time Capsule has been buried. Only Miss Lawless and Mrs Reavey know its' location and this information will be passed on to the principal and vice-principal in the decades ahead.
Perhaps it will be recovered for the 75th anniversary of the current school building which will take place in 2041.
Hopefully by then we will have a new school!!
