Summer Scheme Fun
Week Two of our Summer Scheme was a great success. In hot summer weather the P4, P5 and P6 children had a wonderful time together.
On Monday, our boys and girls completed Personal Development lessons on ‘Our Talents’, they enjoyed Lego Club and outdoor games in the beautiful sunshine.
On Tuesday, everyone enjoyed lots of competitive team sports, art lessons, movie time and prepared our performances for our Talent Show.
On Wednesday, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting animals from all around the world when we were visited by ‘Phil’s Farm’. Each child had a pony ride around the playground, learned about various farm animals, and got to pet animals that originated from Ireland to Peru. We finished the day with an outdoor disco! St Patrick’s boys and girls can really dance!
On Thursday, P5 and P.6 children set off for Castlewellan forest park, where everyone enjoyed ice lollies in the sun, a red squirrel scavenger hunt which was led by the excellent Forest Service NI staff and play time in the play park.
On Friday, pupils enjoyed making rice crispie buns and lemonade. Connor from ‘Sentinus’ Science and Technology group worked with the P.5 and P.6 children in the Assembly Hall on scientific aspects of direction. The children loved it!
In the afternoon the boys and girls enjoyed an end of week assembly to celebrate and showcase their special talents. Each child went home with a variety of sweet treats and a ‘Superstar Award’ for participation in our Summer Scheme 2021.
Thanks to all the staff who worked hard to make the two weeks of the Summer Scheme a success. Thanks to the Department of Education for funding the Summer Scheme.
Thanks also to you, the parents, for your continued support of our school.
