St Patrick's Councils sit at Stormont!
Today the councils were given a treat to visit the Parliament buildings in Stormont. They had a tour around parts of the building, listened to discussions on what happens in the chambers and were told the history of the building. Our children showed super questioning skills, asking who some of the special visitors in the past were, what they had done and why they had come. They even got to meet the speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Alex Maskey!
No doubt we will see a few politicians from our area sitting in the chamber in the near future! Hopefully they will keep the wheels of government rolling!
This was a very enjoyable and interesting trip for the children and adults who attended. Thanks to the volunteers who came along to help.
The children finished their day with a short time in the Mo Mowlan playpark - thankfully the snow stopped to allow the second part of their trip.
