Today we were invited to help officially open the newly resurfaced lane running along side our school grounds. Our local councillor, Gerry O’Hare has been working to have this invaluable pathway made suitable for us and our community to use. The lane is steeped in history and we are looking forward to using it, now that it accessible for our pupils.
A number of children who use the lane regularly joined us, along with Mrs McGreevy, our P1/2 classroom assistant, who shared how she had travelled the lane to come to school as child, just as her mother had when she was a child too. I wonder how many families used this lane and what the earliest records are? Our Primary 7’s have been set the challenge to find out as much as they can in the coming weeks when they will be joining with the more experienced members of our local community at Clonduff Cozy Club.
