Primary 7 and Altar Servers Visit The Relic of St Bernadette

20th Oct 2024

On Friday the P.7 classes and the Altar Servers from P.6 travelled to Newry Cathedral to visit the Relic of St Bernadette. Before they got to venerate and honour the Relic of St Bernadette, the children had to queue to get into the Cathedral and up the centre aisle. There was great excitement as this was the first time the relic has been in Ireland and it was the first time many of the children had ever been inside Newry Cathedral. After seeing the relic, we sat in the side pews to pray and honour St Bernadette and Our Lady of Lourdes. While we waited in our seats for Mass to start we got look at how beautiful Newry Cathedral is. We then took part in the Mass, which Archbishop Eamon Martin presided over, and we had the opportunity to ask St Bernadette for help and healing. Afterwards, Archbishop Eamon joined us for chat and a photo outside the Cathedral. Our children were fine ambassadors of our school, displaying brilliant behaviour, reverence and respect throughout the excursion. Well done children!
