P5 enjoy online Story Telling with Masako Carey
Primary 5 enjoyed an online storytime event as part of Good Relations Week 2024. It was led by the extremely talented Japanese-born storyteller, Masako Carey on 18th September. In keeping with the traditional nature of the stories that she told, Masako wore the Japanese kimono, obi (belt) and geta (wooden sandals). She told several stories including one with a shaggy dog and another with a snotty nosed boy, getting the children to join in with different sound affects! After the stories Masaka took questions from the different schools involved. She was so knowledgeable about Japanese culture and told our children lots about Japan and its cultures. The children weren’t too impressed to hear that traditionally Japanese Children go to school on a Saturday and are expected to take turns to fully clean their classrooms, windows and floors too!
Thanks to Libraries NI, in partnership with The Armstrong Storytelling Trust for the experience.
