P3/4 Sponsored FUNFIT Challenge
A big thank you to Grandad Joe and the Parr family for all the ice lollies donated to our class. They went down a treat.
Mrs O’Hare’s Primary 3 and 4 had a great time this week completing the sponsored funfit challenge. The class were able to beat the targets they set themselves. Thank you so much to all the children and parents for raising money. This is greatly appreciated. Each day the children did a walk, completed jumping, skipping, and hopping challenges. On Monday we did a walk around the chapel, visited the graves of our ex-pupils and walked around the path at the football pitch. On Wednesday we walked up the path behind the school to the old church on the Clonduff Road. This created a lot of discussion and the children were very interested in learning about the history of the crest that we wear everyday. We did a lot of work and research to find out about this when we got back to school.
Finally, on Friday we completed our sponsored walk up through Hilltown village, which tied in nicely with our World Around Us topic of ‘Our village’. We had a lovely morning full of treats and surprises. The O’Gorman family had arranged for us all to get a packet of sweets when passing their shop. Thank you very much to the O’Gorman family. Then, on our way back to school, Pauline O’Hare from the Downshire Arms Hotel very kindly invited us in for hot chocolate and biscuits. This was not planned but was a lovely surprise. I heard the children saying it was the best day ever. Thank you to the Downshire Arms for a lovely surprise. What a lovely way to end the week for the boys and girls! The behaviour and manners of all the pupils was exceptional and lovely to see displayed outside the classroom. I was very proud of them.
Sinead O’Hare.
