Our visit to the Grand Opera House on Thursday was a great success. Everyone enjoyed the pantomime ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Many classes in the school carried out related literacy work the previous week on the theme of ‘traditional’ or ‘fairy’ tales.
Attending the pantomime at the Grand Opera House is more than just a day out. It is an educational experience for the children. It provides an opportunity for them to learn something about the professional side of the entertainment industry. Pupils can compare the work we do in school before Christmas for our Christmas concert each year to what is put on at a professional level by professional actors, actresses, singers and dancers with a large budget.
We hope that by watching the professionals on stage some of our pupils may be encouraged or inspired to choose this as their lifetime profession. We have many very talented pupils.
