Odd Socks Day (Article 19)
Article 19 - You have the right to be protected from being hurt and mistreated, in body or mind.
Today Room 2 celebrated Odd Socks Day as the beginning of Anti Bullying week. This years theme is ‘United Against Bullying.’ The children came into school wearing odd socks. Throughout the day they learned why they were doing this.
The children watched Andy Day’s Assembly on Odd Socks and listened to some of his special guests explaining the theme ‘United Against Bullying.’
We had circle time to find out the children’s favourite colours and what they like to do when they go home. After each circle we discussed how very few of them had the same answers and if they liked building with LEGO they liked building different things. This helped the children to understand that they are all made the same but each child is unique by their qualities.
Finally each child decorated a jigsaw piece to again show how everyone is unique!
