Canon Esler Shield Champions!

Congratulations to the 24 boys who make up our school team on their fantastic victory over St Clare's Abbey PS in the Canon Esler Shield Final. The delayed final, originally scheduled for November, was played at a frantic pace with the players from both sides determined to get their hands on the shield. Despite conceding a goal in the opening minute and some wayward shooting of their own, the boys never dropped their heads and fought back to take a deserved 2 point lead into the half-time interval.

The boys really upped their game in the second half and gradually pulled away from their opponents, scoring 3 second half goals to add to their first half goal and leave the game beyong doubt coming into the closing minutes.

At the final whistle the boys celebrated their deserved victory with their teahcers and parents on the pitch as captain Gerard Carvill received the shield from Cumann na Bunscol An Dún chairman, Paddy Hardy
