Yesterday we had a visit from Sinead, one of the organisers of the Back to the Boley Festival, which is taking place on Friday 25th August!
Sinead told us a little about what the Boley was and challenged the children to ask their grandparents and parents what the could tell them about the Boley and the traditional stories told about the Boley! I wonder how many of our children will be able to tell us about this historical tradition in our area?
The annual Back to the Boley sponsor walk takes place on Friday 25th August and the organisers have nominated our Friends of St Patrick’s Parents’ Association to benefit from the proceeds raised from the walk.
The walk takes starts at 5:00pm on 25th August , starting from Leitrim Lodge and parading to the village ! You can dress up in old time traditional costume and find out lots about times gone by at the pop up storytelling and music sessions along the 2.5 mile dander back to the village.
All children received Sponsor cards yesterday, so please check schoolbags and the organisers have asked for all cards to be returned Friday 25th August at the event.
Please save the date! It would be a lovely way for the children to meet up before the start back to school on 31st August, and learn about the history of their locality.
