Eco trip at Habitat Restore Lisburn

3rd May 2018

Today the Eco Committee and Primary 7 Pupils attended Habitat for Humanity Restore in Lisburn and participated in ‘Our Waste, Our World’ programme. We had a great day!

Habitat ReStore has products that are donated by organisations and individuals who want to help improve their community, the environment and the lives of families in need around the world.

Habitat volunteers work with 70 countries worldwide, mostly in Africa. The children were involved in workshops and had a tour around the Restore. They had the opportunity to see an example of a ‘shack’ in Ethiopia and what life would be like to live in ‘shack’. The children learned how waste in Northern Ireland has an impact on families living in poverty in the developing world and how something as small as a donated doorknob can raise money to help build hope and homes.

We have also been told there will be a Habitat Restore coming to Newry this year which we look forward to.
